Freestyle Digital Media, the digital film distribution division of Byron Allen’s Allen Media Group, has acquired North American VOD rights to the drama-thriller “The Ghost Trap” and the social drama “Global Harmony,” the company announced during the Cannes Film Market. Allen Media also recently unveiled plans for a third installment in its successful “47 Meters Down” shark franchise.

Stephen Fry has signed on to present Willem & Frieda, a feature documentary telling the story of members of the LGBTQ+ community who worked with the Dutch resistance during World War II.
Willem, a gay artist, and Frieda, a lesbian cellist, began forging identity papers for Jews living in the Netherlands under occupation. But when the Nazis began checking the false papers against centrally held duplicate records, Willem and Frieda came up with a daring plan to blow up the Central Records Office, destroying the records without harming anyone.

Saban Films is in final negotiations to acquire North America and multi-territory rights — including for the U.K., German-speaking Europe, Scandinavia, Spain, Benelux and Australia — to real-life WWII spy thriller Lives in Secret, starring Hugh Bonneville and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
From director John Hay, the film sees Gainsbourg play intelligence officer Vera Atkins, who became the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s Miss Moneypenny and made it her mission to discover the fate of missing agents she had dispatched to occupied France. Bonneville will play a high-ranking SS officer. Principal photography is set to begin in the fourth quarter in Eastern Europe, with Saban Films releasing the movie in 2023.

The trio have joined the cast of Berlin, I Love You, which marks the latest film in the Cities of Love anthology series launched by Emmanuel Benbihy that already has tackled tales of romance in Paris and New York.
Written by Neil La Bute and David Vernon, Berlin, I Love You segments are being directed by Fernando Eimbcke, Dennis Gansel, Massy Tadjedin, Peter Chelsom, Til Schweiger, Justin Franklin, Dani Levy and Dianna Agron. Josef Rusnak will helm the transition sequence that ties all the episodes together.

Michel J. Vandewalle of Atlas International and Glenn Kendrick Ackermann of Disrupting Influence have come aboard to co-finance and handle world sales outside of Scandinavia for Iron Sky: The Coming Race, the sequel to the cult Nazis-on-the-moon film from 2012.
The project will kick off world sales in Cannes. Ackermann and Vandewalle will also take on sales duties for the original Iron Sky. With the new backing, Iron Sky 2 is ready to begin production.

James Purefoy is in negotiations to star in the period actioner “Ironclad,” the first pic from newly minted production, financing and sales entity Mythic International Entertainment. Paul Giamatti is circling a role in the $30 million project, which is being helmed by Jonathan English (“Minotaur”).
Based on a legendary story, “Ironclad” is set in 13th century England and tells the story of a formidable Knight Templar and his “Magnificent Seven” who defended historic Rochester Castle against the tyrant, King John, and his mercenary army. Purefoy would play the knight opposite Giamatti’s King John.
